UGC declares 20 universities as FAKE, not authorised to award degrees

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 20 universities as fake and not authorized to award degrees. The list of fake universities was released on Wednesday, March 23, 2023.

The list of fake universities includes:

  • Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya (Spiritual University), Delhi
  • All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences (AIIPHS), Delhi
  • Christ New Testament Deemed University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh
  • Commercial University Ltd., Delhi
  • Distance Education University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Global Open University, Kota, Rajasthan
  • Indian Institute of Science and Engineering, Delhi
  • Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur, Maharashtra
  • National University of Science and Technology, Kolkata
  • Oxford University of Science and Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh
  • People's University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka
  • Shiv Nadar University, Delhi
  • Sri Sai University, Prasanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh
  • The University of Calcutta, Kolkata
  • University of Global Peace, Delhi
  • Vocational University, Delhi

The UGC has warned students against enrolling in these universities. It has said that degrees awarded by these universities will not be recognized by the UGC or any other statutory body.
