Schools Closed In Various Districts Of Odisha Due To IMD Warnings

Schools have been closed in various districts of Odisha due to IMD warnings. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alerts in several parts of Odisha for the next two days.

The following districts have been affected by the school closures:

  • Balangir
  • Bargarh
  • Jharsuguda
  • Sambalpur
  • Sundargarh

The schools will remain closed on August 2, 2023. The decision to close the schools was taken by the district administrations in view of the heavy rainfall warnings issued by the IMD.

The IMD has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha for the next two days. The rainfall is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD has also warned of a possibility of landslides in some hilly areas of Odisha.

The district administrations have advised people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. They have also asked people to be cautious and take all necessary precautions in view of the heavy rainfall warnings.
