UGC takes ragging issue seriously, sends probe team to Jadavpur University

UGC to investigate role of Jadavpur University administration in student's death

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that it will send a probe team to Jadavpur University to investigate the death of Swapnadip Kundu. The team will be headed by a senior official from the UGC and will comprise experts on ragging and student welfare.

The UGC's decision to send a probe team is a welcome step. It shows that the government is taking the issue of ragging seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety of students in universities. The probe team will hopefully be able to get to the bottom of what happened in Jadavpur University and recommend measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

The probe team will also be looking into the role of the university administration in the incident. There have been allegations that the administration was aware of the ragging problem in the university but did not take any action to prevent it. The probe team will hopefully be able to shed light on this issue as well.
