Schools In Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala To Remain Closed Today Due To Rains


Schools in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala have been ordered to remain closed today, July 24, 2023, due to heavy rains in the region. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the coastal regions of Karnataka and predicted heavy rainfall in Maharashtra in the next four days.


In Maharashtra, schools have been closed in the Raigad district, which has been hit by a recent landslide that claimed 27 lives. Schools have also been closed in other districts of Maharashtra, including Palghar, Thane, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.


In Karnataka, schools have been closed in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada. Schools have also been closed in the Chikmagalur district, which has been experiencing heavy rains in recent days.

In Kerala, schools have been closed across the state. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Kerala for the next four days.


The closure of schools is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. The authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will take further action as needed.
